Running a blog, even a personal one, requires more than just inspirations. One needs to be dedicated and disciplined to sustain a good momentum of postings. And when it comes to maintaining a blog that is meant to be profitable, the steady flow of articles become a requirement, a necessity, a must!
Now, we’ve all heard of the “writer’s block”; a situation when you are sitting at your desk, staring at your monitor, not having the slightest idea of what to write about. Sometimes, you have to many floating thoughts in your mind that you don’t know where to start.
You would then start typing a few lines, and decide, that’s not the topic you want to discuss. And this continues for over an hour. Sounds familiar?
So how do we overcome this obstacle? Some may suggest reading the newspaper for the latest headlines. That would work if you are blogging about what the newspaper had to say this morning. Other may suggest you just follow another similar blogger and do a review of what they have posted. “But I want to be a leader in my niche. I want to write something fresh.” You say.
Well, I have an alternative suggestion, which has multiple benefits. My suggestion is to have a Blogging Buddy. Yepps, 2 heads are better than 1, they say. Let’s see the benefits of having a Blogging Buddy.
1) Exclusive Exchange of Ideas
Yeah, we all want to be the rightful owner of our ideas. But having another person to bounce off ideas can do you some good as well. In fact, you can have someone to help you think of the arguments or points that you want to put across and you can test if the message gets delivered.
2) Initiating Comment
This is one aspect of blogging that tends to be overlooked by many bloggers. Sure, it’s great that you have posts on a daily basis. And perhaps your Google analytics are showing that you have a flood of traffic reading your posts monthly. But if no one is giving you any form of feedback, that might mean either 1 of 2 things: no one gets you or you’re so boring they have nothing to say. With a Blog Buddy, you have some to break the ice for the rest.
3) Have A Reserve Mate
Unlike many normal people, bloggers do not have anything else to do beside logging into their account and posting their latest thoughts and finding. Haha! That’s certainly not true…right?! Well, there may be times when you have other commitments, or need a break to get fresh ideas. This will be a good time to let your Blog Buddy write a post for you. And the following week, you can return the favour.
What’s great about this is your followers will have a new voice to read to as well.
4) Push & Pat You On Your Back
Your Blog Buddy will also be the one who will keep you in check with the things you need to do on your blog. They become your motivator as well because you know, there is always someone who can post you creative comments and open up your perspective to generate a unique point of view. Having the right Blog Buddy is also about having complimentary skill sets. This way, you wouldn’t be fighting for the same group of audience and you have a multi-facade post that attracts even more followers.
5) Consistent Effort, Double Results
Now that you have a Blog Buddy, you can actually achieve double the results you would normally get without making yourself burn out. In fact, if you have been pushing yourself over the edge and climbing back up the cliff to do it again, now you can relieve half the stress.
Sure everything sounds great when you’re reading this. But how do you find a suitable Blog Buddy who will motivate and support you with quality postings that will compliment and increase your influence in your blog followers’ minds?
That we will discuss in my next post. In the mean time, anyone want to try and be my blog buddy? Let me know!
